You Have to See This Wearable Star Wars LEGO Dress

When you think of Comic-Con, we’d take a guess that couture gowns aren’t the first thing that comes to mind. But, over the last three years, Her Universe has been hosting one of our favorite events during Comic-Con, the Her Universe “Geek Couture” Fashion Show. For the uninitiated, each year, designers from all different fandoms create one-of-a-kind couture gowns inspired by film and television. The winning designer gets the ultimate style prize: the opportunity to design a fashion collection with Her Universe for Hot Topic.

Each year, host and Her Universe founder, Ashley Eckstein, wears her own custom geek gown. Eckstein dropped a hint before the show began about which character her dress would be based on (none other than Star Wars Rebels‘ Ahsoka Tano, the character she voices), but we did not expect what her dress would be made of.

Instead of chiffon or silk, Eckstein opened the show in a dress made of LEGOs. Yes, you read that correctly. LEGOs. Over 10,000 LEGO bricks to be exact were used to construct the Ahsoka Tano gown, which was designed by Nathan Sawaya and Andrew Maclaine. It’s the first time a LEGO dress has ever been designed to be wearable. It’s that kind of out-of-the-box thinking and design work that makes the Her Universe “Geek Couture” Fashion Show one to watch every year. Oh, and it also makes us want our own Lego Little Block Dress pretty badly.

What do you think of Ashley Eckstein’s amazing LEGO dress? Tell us in the comments!
