The Berlin Film Festival is in full swing and we’re so excited because the festival is hosting the European premiere of the live-action Cinderella! In honor of the premiere, there’s a beautiful exhibit that takes you behind-the-scenes of the production of Cinderella, and shows just how this classic fairy tale was reimagined for the big screen. The exhibit is also where the nine designer Cinderella-inspired shoes are being displayed for the first time! Here’s a look at the amazing details:
Mary Blair’s iconic concept art can been on display, as well as the animated film’s original poster.
How fabulous is Lady Tremaine’s green and black gown?
We also love the step-sisters’ matching pink and yellow floral frocks.
In the kitchen, you can see Ella’s blue dress that she wears at the beginning of the film.
We all know the best carriages are made of pumpkins, and the best pumpkin carriages are made by fairy godmothers. Here, you can see Ella’s mother’s pink dress that she wears, and the Fairy Godmother’s costumes pre and post transformation.
How do we get a ride in this carriage?
In the ballroom scene you can see several of the amazing costumes Sandy Powell designed, including the step-sisters, Lady Tremaine, the Prince, and of course, Ella. Fun fact: Ella’s dress was made of more than 270 yards of fabric and more than 10,000 Swarovski crystals.
Here are the nine designer “glass slippers” again and the foot of Cinderella’s ball gown.
And of course, no Cinderella exhibit would be complete without the real glass slipper, created by Swarovski for the film.
