Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2016 is a little bit … different, but also familiar. Instead of just one color, they’ve designated two: Serenity and Rose Quartz.
The combination of these two beautiful hues is described by Pantone as “a harmonious pairing of inviting shades that embody a mindset of tranquility and inner peace.”
Rose quartz is described as “a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure,” while Serenity “comforts with a calming effect, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times.”
This winning combination reminds us of a very memorable and notably un-serene Disney moment when Flora and Merryweather can’t agree on whether Aurora’s dress should be blue or pink. The result of the changing dress color is beautiful, and totally Serenity/Rose Quartz.
When they accidentally spatter the dress with two colors … it’s a little less harmonious.
What do you think of Pantone’s pick for this year?
