Weekly Affirmation: Learn From the Past

Can you believe it’s been 20 years since The Lion King was released in theaters? Besides feeling a bit old, we’ve been listening to the soundtrack non-stop and thinking about some of the best moments and quotes from the film. That’s why it seemed only fitting to dedicate this week’s affirmation to The Lion King, with one of our favorite quotes from Rafiki.

When Simba struggled with the decision to return to Pride Rock and face his past, Rafiki knocked some sense into him (quite literally) with these wise words.

This quote is wonderful, because it perfectly sums up the theme of The Lion King, but still is completely relatable. We’ve all experienced loss or something painful in our pasts, and like Simba, we can choose to avoid it or gain something from it. We have to look inside ourselves and choose to make something positive out of the bad situations. Only then, can we really take our place in the circle of life. Yes, we’re getting choked up over here from all the feels; that’s why The Lion King is the best.
