3 Summer Looks Inspired by Disney•Pixar’s Coco

We’ve fallen in love with Disney•Pixar’s Coco – the characters, the music and the rainbow of colour seen in every land, streetscape and intricate outfit leave us wanting more of everything. This movie is a feast for your eyes, and your heart.

Upon learning that more than 500 pieces of clothing were created to dress the residents of the Land of the Dead and Miguel’s home town of Santa Cecilia, our very own Georgia-May Davis was inspired to bring Coco into her own Summer wardrobe. The magic is definitely in the detail, and you too can add a little Coco-inspired detail to your Summer look. Watch the video to see Georgia May work her magic:

Look 1 – Fiesta in the sun

I’ve paired a ripped denim skirt featuring floral applique on the hip with a simple white ribbed tee to keep my festival look casual. Comfort is key so slip on a pair of cute yet comfortable platform sneakers so you can dance all day and into the night. As the Southerly breeze cools things down after a hot Summer’s day throw on this brightly coloured, woven box cardigan for a little extra warmth.

Look 2 – Beach Vibes

I am lucky enough to live close to the beach and that is where you’ll find me this Summer. This off the shoulder linen dress has such beautiful hand-stitched floral embroidery which reminds me of the outfits worn by Miguel’s family in the Land of the Dead.  Add a wide brim hat to protect your gorgeous face from the sun – note super fun pompoms adding a burst of colour. Pair this pretty dress with some funky, flat espadrille-inspired slides.  Don’t forget your sunblock!

Look 3 – Hot Summer Nights

There’s something so dreamy about balmy Summer nights. This white ruffle sleeved shirt, complemented by bright red tailored shorts, dressy black heels with fringing and tassles is simple, yet stylish. Mariachi music is a big part of the movie and the celebrations in the Land of the Dead, and the band love their ruffles! I am also including this colourfully embroidered vegan leather handbag to complete the look.

Get ready to be inspired – Coco is in cinemas now!

We had the chance to go behind the scenes of the shoot to chat with Georgia-May about what inspires her and how she has gone about chasing her dreams of presenting, acting and playing music. Like Miguel, Georgia-May is well on her way to achieving her goals.
