Last month concluded the shows for Bridal Fashion Week, which showcases trends in bridal fashion for next spring (so if you’re getting married a year from now—good news—you can already start looking). It’s one of our favorite fashion events, because just about every look is so stunning.
This year, there were quite a few bridal trends that came out of the spring 2018 shows that remind us of some of our favorite Disney dresses from Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, and Elsa.
Leading bridal labels such as Marchesa and Oscar de la Renta showed large bows on their dresses, and not just tied at the back. These bows details are not made to be functional, but are added to gowns as decorative details like in Cinderella’s pink dress.
Just about every designer who showed at Bridal Fashion Week had a statement look that included some kind of cape like Elsa’s. Some embellished, some more simple, but all a major, wedding, wow factor.
Another bridal trend to come out of the week were opera length gloves fit for a Princess. These Belle-inspired gloves were an accessory seen from several collections.
While past bridal trends included strapless and thin strap dresses, this year’s sleeve trend is much bigger—literally. We’re not talking about an ’80s oversized style, but more of a victorian sleeve style that’s elegant and romantic. Ariel pulls off this sleeve in her wedding dress, with a sweetheart neckline and full-length veil.
