The live-action Beauty and the Beast has been a major source of inspiration as of late for fashion, beauty and lifestyle. With its detailed 18th century France setting and beloved characters, it’s no wonder that brands have been influenced by this tale as old as time. And today, British designer Christopher Kane revealed his one-of-a-kind capsule collection that reimagines Beauty and the Beast into women’s and men’s ready-to-wear pieces and accessories. As Kane explained:
I have loved Disney since my childhood, and all of the classics, of which Beauty and the Beast is one. It is such a great theme and story, with very iconic characters and a strong female voice. Looking back at past seasons, our archive was rich with elements that support Beauty and the Beast themes, and we were very much inspired by the film’s setting and mood.
Taking elements like the enchanted rose, and the film’s colors of gold and blue, the collection features dresses, skirts, jackets, accessories, and more made with rich details like Gainsborough silks and Swarovski crystals.
What makes this range even more magical is that it’s the first collaboration between Disney, Christopher Kane, and sustainable brand consultancy Eco-Age. The collection has been validated under the GCC Principles of Sustainable Excellence and celebrates artisanship and handcrafting, with two pieces achieving the GCC Brandmark—the organic cotton Photographic Rose T-shirt, and the Swiss Rose Lace dress.
The collection will be available on March 16, at Christopher Kane’s flagship store on London’s Mount Street and online, as well as with select international retail partners including Selfridges, The Webster, Shinsegae, Isetan, Joyce, Breuninger, and Banner.
