6 Disney-Inspired Tips for Your Fall Wardrobe

As difficult as it is to say goodbye to summer, there’s a silver lining to the seasonal change that we’ve been particularly excited about: fall fashions. Bringing rich color schemes, long coats, and scarves, there’s so much to celebrate about cozy autumnal wardrobes that we’re almost not even upset about having to put away our shorts and sleeveless tops. Almost.

We love incorporating Disney into style year-round, but this new season brings with it an entirely new set of opportunities for Disney-inspired flair. We’ve rounded up a few tips to let you take full advantage!

1. Style your outfits in earthy, Disney film color schemes.

Where summer is dominated by pops of color and bright whites, fall is a time for deep tones of green, mustard, and maroon—a color scheme plenty of Disney characters have down pat. Revisit Pocahontas’s “Colors of the Wind” scene or Robin Hood’s opening for earthy inspiration for an outfit this fall.

2. Go wild with denims and Disney pin and patch flair.

Denim is hardly the first fabric that comes to mind in summer, but when it comes to fall, we embrace it in all forms. As fall weather transitions into that pleasant medium between winter’s chill and summer’s warmth, whip out your favorite denim jacket, overalls, or this adorable new dress from Forever 21 and give it some Disney flair with patches and pins.

3. Accessorize with Disney-print scarves

Printed fabrics are a great way to subtly incorporate Disney accents into an outfit. See if you can spot the hidden Mickey, Minnie, Fantasyland Castle, and more in these gorgeous fabrics, all available from the Disney Store.

4. Follow in the footsteps of our favorite Disney characters with fall boots.

Disney characters know a thing or two about these fall fashion musts. While ankle boots are a comfortable favorite of ours, we’re loving fall trends embracing longer boots. Whether slouchy, like Flynn, or as structured and dramatic as Mrs. Incredible, this footwear is sure to make a statement and keep your legs extra warm in the process.

5. Embrace sweaters of all shapes and sizes.

When it comes to sweaters in fall, no knitwear is too chunky or large. In recent memory, Sadness’s oversized sweater brought us illuminate joy, but countless other characters —from Penny from Oliver & Company to Goofy himself—sport oversized turtleneck sweaters with panache.

6. Have fun with it.

Take a page out of Merida’s guidebook and know that whatever you decide to wear this fall, as long as it’s comfortable to you and makes you feel great, you’re definitely nailing this fall fashion thing.
