What We Would Wear to Iconic Disney Parties

When thinking back on all of those great parties in Disney movies, we like to pretend our invites just got lost in the mail. Had they arrived as they should have, we’d have graciously RSPV’d, summoned our best friends as our plus ones, and naturally spent weeks planning the perfect outfits. Alas, no luck.

Just because the first two things can’t happen however, doesn’t mean we can’t indulge our fashion fancies and attempt the last, imagining what we’d wear to iconic Disney balls and celebrations. In keeping with the aspirational and (unfortunately) imaginary nature of these outfits, we’ve made them as extravagant as the parties themselves. Scroll through to see what we’ve dreamed up.

It’d be hard to forget Elsa’s coronation celebration—an occasion that, for the first time in forever, brings music, light, and dancing to Arendelle. We paired this evening dress, a modern gown that mimics Anna’s gown’s silhouettes, with vintage accessories and a pair of ankle strap heels for an overall look worthy of the momentous occasion.

Cinderella and Prince Charming dancing at the ball

Quite possibly one of the most famous Disney parties of all, the ball Cinderella attends is everything a celebration of its kind should be. We particularly love the fact that all its guests dressed to the nines and decided to follow suit with this full, strapless gown and matching gold and metallic accessories.

Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland 1951 Disney Alice at the tea party

Disney parties aren’t always about ball gowns and charming princes. The mad tea party in Alice in Wonderland is an entirely unique celebration that merits an equally unique outfit. We’ve matched an eclectic dress with rings, earrings, sunglasses and lace up heels for a subtly victorian—and very merry— outfit.

The moment after Mulan’s triumph, when a crowd made up of thousands simultaneously bows to our brave heroine, always gives us chills. Though not technically a party, we wanted to imagine an outfit for the ensuing celebration regardless. Pairing a print, maxi gown with flower drop earrings and gold accessories, we’d hope to dress as boldly as Mulan acts.

Rapunzel's Castle from Tangled

What wouldn’t we give to be in the crowd for summer solstice in Rapunzel’s kingdom? Between the rolling hills, the gorgeous palace, and—of course—the countless floating lanterns, we can’t decide what we’d love the most about this idyllic scene. Inspired by the verdant setting, we’ve arranged a spring and summer inspired outfit, centered around a flower embroidered dress we think Rapunzel would approve of.
