Alli Simpson Shares 4 Tips for Finding Inspiration

Inspiration can be found all around us.

If you take a closer look around, you’ll see it in the trees, in the sky, and in the people you love. Sometimes it doesn’t seem obvious right away and we have trouble finding it. It comes to us when we’re doing something we’re passionate about, but every once in awhile, I feel like I’m waiting a little too long for inspiration to strike. So, I’m gonna tell you guys a few of the things I go to when I feel blocked creatively.

FRIENDS – They know how to cheer you up and they know what makes you tick. When I’m around my friends, we always get a ton of new ideas for things we want to do, foods we want to try, and things we want to create. Don’t be afraid to have deeper discussions with your friends … hearing new perspectives can be what you need! Always seek fun and help from your friends.

ADMIRE AND EXPLORE – Admire the artists you love. All around us people are doing amazing things, so be inspired. Find something with the power to move you. Listening to music, going to a museum, or even just picking up a good book can help you feel inspired. Listen to your favorite songs. Pick up a journal and write in it every night before bed. Teach yourself to play a new instrument. The smallest things can help your creative energy flow.

ADVENTURE – Get your thoughts flowing! My friends and I love to see what cool new spots we can find. Seeing and experiencing new things can help you open up your mind and find value in things you didn’t see before. Life can move pretty fast, and even I forget to “stop and smell the roses” once in awhile! It’s so important to take a deep breath, take in your surroundings, and appreciate the beauty around you.

DISCONNECT TO CONNECT – Get off your phone! I know, I know. It seems impossible sometimes. Social media can actually stress you out a ton! Paying attention to what everyone else is doing is fun, but not always healthy. Live in the NOW! Live in the PRESENT! Focus on your life. Surround yourself with love! Avoiding the Internet will help you feel cleansed. You can start the next day with a clear, fresh mind, ready to take on whatever goal you’re working towards.

Ask yourself what makes you happy, and then go chase it.

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” – Maya Angelou

So my loves, I hope I was able to help you out. Until next time …
